Wivelrod is a small village situated approximately 3 miles east of Alton and 12 miles southwest of Farnham. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is home to a number of historic buildings, including the 12th-century St. John the Evangelist Church. The village is also known for its annual Wivelrod Fete, which takes place in the summer and features a range of traditional games and activities.
One of the most notable features of Wivelrod is its close proximity to the South Downs National Park. The park covers an area of over 1,600 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of wildlife and habitats. Visitors to Wivelrod can enjoy a range of outdoor activities in the park, including hiking, cycling, and horse riding. The park is also home to a number of historic sites, including the Iron Age hill fort of Old Winchester Hill and the medieval ruins of Cowdray Castle.
There are 1200km of bridleways spreading through the National Park for riders to enjoy – everything from a gentle trot along a country track to a hack up to the top of the Downs.
